A 2014 epic science fiction movie called Interstellar was co-written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, Matt Damon, and Michael Caine are among the actors who appear in it. The movie, which is set in a dystopian future in which famine and devastating plague have engulfed civilization, centers on a crew of astronauts who venture through a wormhole near Saturn in quest of a new home for humanity.
The screenplay was written by brothers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan and was based on one Jonathan wrote in 2007 that was first intended to be directed by Steven Spielberg. The Science of Interstellar, a book written in conjunction with the movie, was executive produced by Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist at Caltech and the 2017 winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics.
Hoyte van Hoytema, the film’s cinematographer, used IMAX 70 mm and Panavision anamorphic 35 mm film for the filming. Beginning in late 2013, Alberta, Iceland, and Los Angeles served as the locations for the main filming. In addition to the numerous real and tiny effects used in Interstellar, Double Negative also produced extra computer effects.
