French 3D computer-animated musical superhero film Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie, which Jeremy Zag directed and co-wrote, is also known as Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie in some regions. It follows two Parisian teens, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir, respectively, to defend the city from supervillains led by Hawk Moth. It is based on the animated television series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.
The movie’s plot would investigate the franchise’s beginnings, which was confirmed with the announcement of the movie in 2018 and the start of production in 2019. Director and co-writer Jeremy Zag has been officially announced alongside Bettina Lopez Mendoza. Through ZAG Inc., Zag also works as a producer for The Awakening Production, which is distributed by SND and ON Animation Studios. It follows the 2009 movie Totally Spies! The Movie as the second theatrical release based on an animated TF1 TFOU series. It is presently the second most expensive French movie ever made, at a budget of €80 million.
