On Monday, the producers of Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue published the trailer. The movie, which is based on true events, stars Akshay Kumar as Jaswant Singh Gill, a mining engineer who organized a risky rescue effort to free 65 trapped miners in a West Bengal quarry in 1989.
In the teaser, Kumar surveys a flooding problem in a Raniganj coal mine while donning a beard and a red turban. He declares that there are still 65 miners trapped in the tunnels below. He says it again, “They are waiting for us,” as he scrambles to come up with a rescue strategy.
Gill explains to his senior (Kumud Mishra) that the conventional extraction techniques won’t work since the water pressure is too high. The first of its kind in the world, his technique involves inserting a steel capsule into a borehole. Additionally, he selflessly offers to fearlessly enter the flooded mine and save each miner personally despite the overwhelming odds.
