Night Drive 2019 hollywood movies review

Los Angeles cab driver Russell (AJ Bowen -You’re Next, Synchronicity), is having a tough time; his life has taken a few wrong turns, things haven’t gone to plan and he’s not in a good place. But a chance pick-up of an unfathomable passenger could be about to change everything.

When Charlotte (Sophie Dalah – Unbroken, Dead Night) gets in his car, what starts out as a normal fare quickly takes a dark turn and spins Russell’s world on its head. And then things get even weirder and deadlier, and there’s shocks and splatters galore. Who’s really in the driver’s seat and who will make it through the night drive?

What started off looking just like every other recent thriller/horror of late that involves a cab-driver, NIGHT DRIVE unexpectedly shifts gear into its latter stages, a move that elevates this to being one of the better genre flicks of the year. Sure, it’s by no means perfect, some of the film’s earlier sections do tend to drag a bit, but where it ends up going makes for an absolute blast. Should have known that lead AJ Bowen wouldn’t have picked a stinker to star in, he’s one of the more reliable actors out there in terms of film output and this is another impressive entry on his career CV.
