Amit Rai wrote and directed OMG 2, an Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama movie about sex education in India. The film, which also stars Yami Gautam Dhar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Akshay Kumar, is a spiritual sequel to OMG – Oh My God! (2012).
On August 11, 2023, the movie was presented in theaters to enthusiastic reviews from critics. It is now the seventh-highest grossing Hindi film of 2023 with worldwide box office receipts of around 220.49 crore (US$28 million).
(Note that whereas in the original film Akshay Kumar played Lord Shiva, in the censored theatrical version he plays one of Shiva’s messengers. This synopsis of the plot is provided in the context of the censored release, treating Akshay’s persona as a messenger.)
The opening sequence of the film features naked Naga Sadhus and other devotees making their way to the Mahakaal Temple to witness the “Bhasm Aarti” of Lord Mahakaal at four in the morning. Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi), a devout follower of Lord Shiva who runs a store next to the temple, is one of the worshippers. He chooses to retain the stranger’s bag and return it later after finding it there.
