Samaritan 2022 hollywood movies review

Samaritan is a 2022 American superhero film directed by Julius Avery, written by Bragi F. Schut, and starring Sylvester Stallone in the title role, Javon Walton, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias. Described as a dark, new take on superhero movies, the story was previously adapted[a] into the Mythos Comics graphic novels by Schut, Marc Olivent, and Renzo Podesta.

It is a co-production of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Balboa Productions. The story revolves around a young boy who comes to the realization that a famed superhero, who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty-five years ago, may in fact still be around.

Sam Cleary is a troubled 13 year old high school student who tries his best to help his mom with the financial crisis they are in. He accepts a job from Nemesis (a supervillain) supporters to distract an old shopkeep. Cyrus, a crime kingpin, meets Sam personally and gives him 110 dollars for the work. Sam continues to be a supporter for Nemesis and in doing so, He realizes that the leader Cyrus is crazy and decides to leave.

Three of the gang members pursue him after Sam punched one, embarrassing him in front of Cyrus. They catch up to Sam but an older neighbor, Joe, saves him. Sam believes Joe is actually Samaritan, a superhero who vanished after a fight with Nemesis years prior. He spies on him from across his room and sees scars on the mans back consistent with the major power plant fire that happened in granite city 100 years ago.
