2018’s Skyscraper is an American action movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Roland Mller, Noah Taylor, Byron Mann, Pablo Schreiber, and Hannah Quinlivan. It was written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The plot centers on a former FBI agent who is forced to save his family from the world’s highest skyscraper when terrorists take control of it and set it on fire.
It is Thurber’s first non-comedy of his career and, after Central Intelligence (2016), their second joint project. In September 2017, shooting got under way in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. On July 13, 2018, Universal Pictures released it in the US in 2D and Real D 3D. To date, it has made $65 million globally, outperforming its estimated $125 million production cost. Critics gave the movie mixed reviews, complimenting Johnson’s acting but criticizing the formulaic narrative for being too similar to Die Hard and The Towering Inferno.
