Its metatextual plot shows both the making of the play as well as the events of a Junior Stargazer convention in a retrofuturistic rendition of 1955.[6] It is Anderson’s ode to the mythology and popular memory surrounding extraterrestrials and UFOs that were allegedly seen in the Southwest desert near atomic test sites during the postwar years of the 20th century in America.
