The 2023 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film Dunki (transl. Donkey fly) is based on the same-named illegal immigration tactic. Rajkumar Hirani authored the screenplay along with Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon, and he directed and edited the movie. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal (as a special appearance), and Boman Irani, the film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films.
The official title and the film were announced in April 2022. In April 2023, principal photography wrapped up in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kashmir, Budapest, London, Jeddah, and Neom. It had started that same month. Aman Pant wrote the background score, while Pritam wrote the soundtrack. The film’s cinematography was handled by Amit Roy, Manush Nandan, and C. K. Muraleedharan.
