In 2020, Christopher Nolan will release the science fiction action thriller Tenet, which he will also produce with his wife Emma Thomas. John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh all appear in this British-American co-production. The movie depicts a former CIA agent who discovers how to control time in order to stop a future attack that could destroy the present planet. For the creation and release of the movie, Nolan maintained his partnership with Warner Bros. and his production business Syncopy.
It took Nolan more than five years to complete the screenplay after he had been thinking about Tenet’s main concepts for more than a decade. Principal photography in Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States took place from May to November and lasted six months, starting with pre-production in late 2018 and ending with casting in March 2019. Hoyte van Hoytema, the director of photography, used 65 mm and IMAX film. Tenet was released in the UK on August 26, 2020 and in the US on September 3, 2020 in IMAX, 35 mm, and 70 mm after being postponed three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
