Teddy Jackson, known for his screw-ups, has tried to plan the perfect anniversary surprise. While Lori is being pampered in a spa, he plans to prepare the secluded house he’s rented.
As the ink on Teddy’s printed reservation is faint, his misreads the house number, inadvertently stumbling into an interrogation. Confused for ‘The Man from Toronto’, he plays along until the FBI burst into the scene.
After being interrogated, the agency forces Teddy to aid them in the capture of the actual assassin, who according to their intel is aiding an assassination attempt on the newly elected Venezuelan president.
While Teddy is completing the mission, Lori will be pampered by Agent Santoro acting as her butler, and he’ll accompany her with 24h of shopping, luxury and dancing. He says he’ll do it if they erase his debts.
Meeting the contact in front of a museum, Teddy is soon whisked off by her and three black SUVs. Taking him to the airport, they board him on a cargo plane to do a job in Puerto Rico. Teddy meets the assassin on the plane, who’s real name is Randy, and they team up. Randy insists that Teddy pose as him as he was photographed as the assassin after being incorrectly identified as ‘The Man from Toronto’ at the secluded house.
Once landed in Puerto Rico, Randy has one hour to teach Teddy to be him. Buying him a suit, a set of intimidating looking knives and other tools, he coaches him before Teddy has to play the part of assassin at a tech convention. He has to uncover which of four men is Mr. Green. Randy coaches him via an ear piece. Nervous after having cut one on the face, Teddy vomits on two of them, so Green reveals himself.
They almost get away with it, but one of the thugs sees Teddy’s earpiece, so Randy comes out of hiding, wasting them all. Confronting Green, he explains that he came up with the double safety feature with a code number and his thumbprint to thwart the plan to blow up the Venezuelan embassy. Randy takes his thumb, then the Miami assassin ambushes them.
