The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window 2022 Season 1 review

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (originally titled The Woman in the House) is an American dark comedy thriller streaming television miniseries created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf. Primarily a parody of mystery psychological thriller films, the series stars Kristen Bell, Michael Ealy, Tom Riley, Mary Holland, Cameron Britton, and Samsara Yett. The series was released on January 28, 2022, on Netflix. It received mixed reviews from critics, while Bell’s performance was praised.

A heartbroken woman named Anna is unsure of whether or not she witnessed a murder. Due to her almost daily habit of pairing medicines prescribed by her therapist (assumed to be anxiolytics and antidepressants) with wine, she often has hallucinations. Anna is also often outcasted by members of her community, including her new neighbors, and labeled “crazy”. Regardless of being sure of whether she witnessed a murder, Anna investigates the situation.

Kristen Bell as Anna, a woman who takes a break from her painting career to mourn the death of her eight-year-old daughter, a tragedy that also broke up her marriage. She suffers from “ombrophobia”, a fear of rain, and takes pills with red wine, which causes her hallucinations. She cooks chicken casseroles, and reads books with titles like The Woman Across the Lake and The Girl on the Cruise.
