Boomerang 2021 movies review

Boomerang Review: The concept of face swapping is no more a strange thing to movie buffs. Boomerang begins with an intense surgery done to Siva as doctors think it’s the only way out to rectify his facial deformities. Hos face is swapped with that of Sakthi’s (Atharvaa). Siva, who gets a new lease of life, plans to start a business to take care of his family. Little did he know that he has to face several issues in the coming days. After getting attacked a couple of times by some strangers, Siva realises that someone is after his life.

He sets out to Trichy with his friend Gopal (Sathish) and girlfriend (Megha Akash) to know the whereabouts of Sakthi. They meet Maya (Indhuja) who narrates Sakthi’s life to them and tells why some people are after Siva. What follows is a revenge story.

The movie’s plot is interesting enough to entertain the audience, but the screenplay falters as the story progresses. The need to embrace farming, elements of corporate culture, emotional attachment with village, and so on, are depicted interestingly though viewers feel disconnected at times.

Atharvaa, as Siva and Sakthi, excels in his roles while Sathish and RJ Balaji are in charge of comedy in the first and second halves respectively. A few one-liners of Balaji works as it syncs well with the scenes. Megha Akash is okay as a short filmmaker and Indhuja does her part convincingly. Upen Patel, who appears in a couple of scenes, is wasted as his role is poorly written.
