Jerry Bruckheimer produced the 2006 American fantasy swashbuckler film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which was directed by Gore Verbinski and written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. It is the second movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and the follow-up to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003).
The movie, which takes place a year after The Curse of the Black Pearl, tells the story of Captain Jack Sparrow, who owes a favor to Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), the horrifying captain of the Flying Dutchman, and who is hunted by the Kraken and marked for death. Meanwhile, Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander) interrupts Will Turner’s (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann’s (Keira Knightley) wedding, requesting that Turner obtain Jack’s mystical compass in an attempt to locate the Dead Man’s Chest.
