The Nun II, often referred to as The Nun: Chapter Two, is a 2023 American Gothic supernatural horror movie that was directed by Michael Chaves and has a script by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and Akela Cooper based on a tale by Cooper. The eighth entry in The Conjuring Universe series and a follow-up to The Nun (2018), the movie stars Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell in addition to Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons, who all previously appeared in the first film. Producers Peter Safran and James Wan are back.
Wan talked about the idea of a Nun sequel in 2017, and by 2019, Safran made it known that the movie was in the early stages of production. Before Goldberg and Naing participated as screenwriters to the final draft, Cooper was initially employed as the only writer. It was revealed that Chaves would be directing The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021). In France, principal photography commenced in October 2022.
On September 8, 2023, Warner Bros. Pictures released The Nun II in the US. Although critics had conflicting opinions of it, it was generally thought to be an upgrade over its predecessor. It has made $232 million globally.
